The impact of the Corona pandemic on the financial performance of Jordanian service companies

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the impact of the Corona pandemic(covid-19) on the financial performance of Jordanian service companies listed on the Jordanian stock market. To achieve this goal، the study used the profitability index as one of the basic financial ratios to assess the financial performance of companies، and to compare the financial performance for these companies before and during the Corona pandemic(covid-19). The study included (48) service companies، and to achieve the objectives of the study، the published financial data of these companies for the years (2019-2020) was used، and these data were analyzed using the statistical programs SPSS، Excel. The results of the analysis showed a negative impact of the Corona pandemic on the financial performance indicators of Jordanian service companies through the presence of statistically significant differences in the indicators between the two study periods، and the study confirmed that the Corona pandemic(covid-19) had a clear negative impact on the profitability of these companies.
